How the tiers work

02

Landlords, housing providers, electricians, resellers

Four kinds of buyer, one rule that never bends: one kit per household, registered to that address.

Landlords

Packages matched to Tyneside flats, terraces and semis. One proposal for the whole portfolio.

Housing providers

Pilot batches first, then scheduled drops to estates, with the documents procurement asks for.

Electricians

Trade pricing, counter collection on the way to site, and a fitter panel for referral work later.

Resellers

Stock the range by the pallet and sell it exactly as the maker supplies and registers it.

Procurement questions

Can one buyer order more than one kit?

Yes, as long as every kit goes to a different household. The rules allow one plug-in solar kit per home, so a landlord with 12 flats can order up to 12 kits, one per flat, each registered to its own address.

Are the kits on sale now?

Not yet. Trade terms with the maker are being finalised, so prices are TBC. Join the kit list to hear first, or request a proposal and we'll come back to you with figures once they're confirmed.

Do you install the kits?

No, we supply them. The kits are made to be set up without an installer or scaffolding. Each home needs a weatherproof outdoor socket within 4m and modern RCD protection, which an electrician can fit or check. Wall, flat-roof and raised installs need a professional assessment first.

Where do you deliver?

By van or wagon across the North East, from our yard in NE13. The kits can be used in England, Scotland and Wales, but not in Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.

Can kits go on balconies?

No. The maker's datasheets say these kits are not suitable for balconies. They go on level ground or, for the hybrid lines, a solid house wall after a professional assessment.

Who tells the network operator?

Registering each kit free at myplugin.solar before first use does that. In the North East, the network operator is Northern Powergrid.

Can a kit run with a home battery?

No. Plug-in kits must not be used with a home battery, so we never supply one as part of a package.

What about halls, clubs and business units?

Plug-in kits are for homes only. For community buildings and business premises, you can register interest in an installer quote instead.

*Estimate for one household with the Max 1260W kit: a busy four-person home with someone in all day, using 70% of what the kit makes, at the Ofgem price cap unit rate of 26.32p per kWh (1 Oct to 31 Dec 2026). That's around £1,760 over 10 years and £3,430 over 20 at today's rate, allowing for the panels losing 0.5% of their output a year. Electricity sent to the grid isn't paid for. See the working in the estimator.
